SPT2007 - First Circular The conference SPT2007 (Symmetry and Perturbation Theory) will take place in Otranto in South-East Italy (near Lecce) on 2-9 June 2007. See the web site www.sptspt.it for this series of conferences. The first and last day of SPT2007 are arrival (and registration) day and departure day; the conference itself will start early in the morning of 3 June and end up late in the afternoon of 8 June. The web page of the conference, http://www.sptspt.it/spt2007.html , is being updated and contains some relevant informations. See below for some of these. A pre-registration form will be available there as well in due course. Otranto is a small city at the eastern point of Italy; as such it plaid a strategic role and aquired relevance (and prosperity) in former centuries together with the surroundings. Lecce is about 50 km north of Otranto and one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. Information about the area will be available through the conference web page http://www.sptspt.it/spt2007.html . In order to reach the conference venue you can either fly to Brindisi or arrive by train in Lecce; a transfer service will be available from Brindisi airport, airport terminal in Lecce and Lecce train station. The schedule of buses operating these transfers will be communicated well in advance so that you can make travel plans accordingly. Tranfer will only be available on arrival and departure days; for transfer in other days please contact the Hotel. The conference will take place in Hotel Club Daniela, located near the sea coast immediately north of Otranto (see the conference web page for a link to the Hotel web site with photos and informations). Participants wishing so will be lodged in the same hotel at discount full board rates; see the conference web page for details. Participants will have to take care of their reservations; details will be communicated in due time. A conference fee will be levied; this is fixed at 100 E for standard participants (faculty and postdocs) and 50 E for students and unemployed. Proceedings of the conference will be published by World Scientific; a copy of the volume will be distributed to all participants. Details about contributions to the proceedings volume will be communicated later on. With the preregistration form you can also propose a contribution to the conference and/or the proceedings. Please note there is a deadline for this, and that the Scientific Committee will select proposed contributions (we expect to have more proposals than available slots for oral presentation). We would appreciate if you could preregister only once you are reasonably certain you intend to take part in the conference. On the other hand, once you decide you do intend to be with us, it will be helpful to have your registration as soon as possible. It is expected that each participant will fully cover his/her expenses, as for previous SPT conferences. In case some funds become available to partially cover local expenses of some participants, a form to apply for financial support has been included in our web page; prospective participants may note that as of now, no such funds are available. In previous SPT conferences, priority for the (little) available funds has been given to support participants from developing countries, unemployed, and younger ones. Finally, please note that if you receive this circular, you have (or have been) subscribed to the SPT2004 mailing list, and you will receive further ones -- unless you ask to be dropped from the list: to do so, send a message with subject:UNSUBSCRIBE to spt@sptspt.it Giuseppe Gaeta October 2007
