SPT2004 - second circular The conference SPT2004 (Symmetry and Perturbation Theory) will take place in Cala Gonone on 30 May - 6 June 2004. See the web site www.sptspt.it for this series of conferences; the conference web page is: http://www.sptspt.it/spt2004.html This second circular is mainly concerned with: (1) hotel reservation (2) deadlines (3) pre-registration 1a) Hotel reservation will be open from 23 february (but we suggest you wait 1 march). See our web site for details of reservation; these could be updated depending on instructions from Tivigest. You will need to make a non-refundable payment of 20% of the total sum to secure your room. The rooms we have reserved for the conference will be retained until 20 APRIL. 1b) We stress that not all of the hotel will be open at the time of the conference; it is expected that the part which will be opened will actually be full, so you are STRONGLY advised to make reservation by the deadline of 20 april. 1c) You can stay, making use of our discounted rates, for extra days before the conference. No reduction is available if you want to extend your stay after the conference. 1d) The subject of transfers between your arrival point in Sardinia and Cala Gonone will be dealt with in a later circular; some information is available through our web page. You may want to have a look at this before booking your flight. 2) The main deadlines for SPT2004 are as follows: Requesting financial support 15 March Hotel reservation 20 April Payment of 20% advance for hotel 20 April Proposing a talk (suggested) 20 April Requesting airport/hotel transfer 10 May Registration 31 May Some comment on the deadline for talks: after that date the scientific committee wills elect proposals for oral presentations. Suggestions received after this date will be considered only if some time is still available (possible but not very probable). 3a) Pre-registration is open; a pre-registration form is available through our web site. With this you can also propose a talk or a poster. 3b) On our web site you also find a form to apply for financial support should some funds become available for this (they are not at the moment). If you apply for funding it would be appropriate to also give some reason (unless these are obvious) for requiring support. Please note that in any case we will not be able to cover travel expenses, so please state if your organization is ready to cover these. In case of students/postdocs we may require an official statements from your organization that no funds are available for you to attend the conference without our support. Finally, a warning if you pass this information on to colleagues: filling the pre-registration form is not inserting you in our mailing list. On the other hand, our circulars will also be available online. Looking forward to meeting you in Cala Gonone Giuseppe Gaeta (on behalf of the organizing committee)
